Computer Maintenance for Hardware and Software

Learn some consumer level techniques that can easily be applied by you the owner, to keep your computer running well, achieve its life expectancy, improve system performance and maintain its operating reliability.

This hands-on class will show you how to maintain your computer for both hardware and software, update your operating system with the latest OS patches and virus signatures. You will participate in class exercises designed to help you perform these tasks.

You will be introduced to built-in Microsoft utilities that create restore points and shown how to back up your personal data. You will be introduced to industry's leading commercial software that will help you manage your computer, backup your computer, defragment your hard disk for performance, as well as malware removal and prevention. Much of the commercial software is free for home use with enhanced capabilities available in paid versions. Emphases is on prevention, personal data protection and the avoidance of frequent or major problems.
